SpongeBob SquarePants Underoos
Once upon a time I had an iguana that I would go rock hunting for. I would go check out the dry Santa Maria riverbed and fish out large, flat rocks for my iguana to bask on. I was out early one Saturday morning, hunting for rocks and I had spotted the perfect rock. It was smooth, flat and large enough for my iguana to lay on perfectly. So I decided to abandon some of the other rocks I had piled up and opted to lug the perfect one back to my truck. Once I got to where my truck was parked I discovered a problem with my plan. How the hell was I supposed to hoist my rock up to where the road was? I was too short to throw it up there and I didn't have a container for my rock. Then a stroke of genius hit me, I could fashion a container out of my blue jeans. Then all I have to do is hoist it over my shoulder and climb on up out of the dried up riverbed. My plan was flawless!

Pretty Flowers
Up close and personal. Here is my not so sad attempt at using the macro setting on my camera. I probably should have taken pictures of more than JUST flowers but I had so many flowers at my disposal. While strolling around in Capitol Park I walked through the World Peace Rose Garden. Though I am not a fan of roses, the sight was wonderful and the smell was otherworldly. Did you know that roses are the official flower of the United States?
This is my favorite shot of all of the flowers I took pictures of. Read on and you can see the rest that made the cut in order of which I liked the best to the least.

Winner, winner! Chicken dinner.
I made this for dinner the other night. All of the veggies in the picture came from the Blosser Urban Garden. I figure I should share the recipe for this even though it was a bit of a daunting task to get my dinner made. My oven decided to blow the bottom coil! So originally my plan was to cook this all at 450 degrees for about 35 minutes. However I am not sure what the oven temp was but I ended up cooking the taters and chicken for about an hour and fifteen minutes. If your oven works I don't recommend cooking for that long!!!

Buying Local Buy Fresh
In an effort to support my community, eat more produce and eat organic; I decided to stop buying produce at the chain grocery stores in my area. A friend of mine mentioned last year that she was getting a box/bag full of organic, local grown, produce on a weekly basis from the Blosser Urban Garden. There were a few times when she got some items that were not going to be used in her house and I took that opportunity to have organic at home (Thanks Amy!). I really liked the produce and figured, heck I will give it a try myself.
So this year I signed up. I am only getting the produce bimonthly. There is no possible way my husband and I could eat all of the produce in time if we got the goods weekly! Here is what I got just this last week:

This is almost all of it. I also got radishes, oranges, organic coffee and a bag of spring mix for salads. I think my favorite part is that the produce I get is a surprise! I never know what I will be getting. That may be daunting for some but I am up to the cooking challenge to make something wonderful with what I have. I should be on Iron Chef: Lazy Video Gamer Edition
